Finish: Work the feet and hips to square up on the defender, and close the gap with the lead blocker. While driving the defender backward, with a slightly wider than shoulder- width base with the feet, and on the balls of the feet, work up through the defender’s chest. Keep an eye on the linebacker. Maintain contact. Finish.

Double-Team—Lead

Aiming Points: Mentally shift the weight to the inside foot. The aiming point is the lower line of the defender’s numbers.

Approach: Bucket step at a 45-degree angle to the inside with the outside foot. Drive the second step into the crotch of the defender. The third step, with the outside foot, will be straight upfield. Keep the head up.
